The Girl Next Door Manifesto

My first post! I don't know how to start. Horror! Okay!! No one is reading this blog yet, so HERE GOES. I'm going to start with a mission statement. Sort of. A manifesto? I'm not even sure! I'm going to ramble a bit, how about that?

The Girl Next Door Manifesto

This blog is here because, often when I mention that I love reading romance novels or erotic fiction, I get a look of surprise. Okay, fine. It's usually accompanied with a snide remark. People don't tend to expect it of me. I don't know why. Fiction of the Sexy-Times variety is geared towards women, and I am, in fact, a woman. But people see me and think of the proverbial girl next door. And I'm here to say, and to show, that not every reader and writer of erotic romance is oversexed, perverted, or a closet freak--I mean, SOME of us are, I imagine! And I'm not saying I'm NOT one! I'm just saying, I read what I like and I am who I am. I'd rather if people didn't give me guilt trips about my reading choices.

On my young adult blog, I wrote about romance novels and the reaction I've gotten from having romance novels on my living room bookshelf. It was kind of a rant, blush, but you can read it here. In Defense of Romance- YA or Otherwise.
